Our Team

Justin Justin Silbaugh (Country Director) came to Uganda in July 2006, initially volunteering and then serving as the executive director of an organization in Mbale, and then joining the In Movement team in 2008. He has a bachelor's degree in history from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and a Master of Education from National University in San Diego, California. He has an extensive background in organizational development, strategic planning, capacity-building, teaching and teacher training, and is a singer and musician.
 
ak47   Ak Simba (Video Documenter/Technical Engineer and Publicity Coordinator) is a hip-hop artist/producer, graphic designer and visual effects engineer. He has performed at the U.N. Peace Day Concert in Gulu and the Peace, Love & Unity Concert in West Nile towns, a campaign to create awareness in youth in rural areas about HIV/AIDS. He has also produced a sound track for an AIDS board game by Casper & Carew International.

Grace Grace Flavia Ibanda (Dance Facilitator and Facilitator Coordinator) is a teacher assistant in the dance section at Makerere University's Department of Music, Dance and Drama. She is a founder member of Okulamba Dance Company, a Uganda-based contemporary dance company. She is also trained as a dance movement therapist and has worked extensively in the rehabilitation field mostly with children and adults with special needs. She works as a choreographer, dancer, and trainer, using traditional African dances and modern dance.
 
Johnmary Johnmary Mukiza (Visual Arts Facilitator and Programs Coordinator) is part of a vibrant community of visual artists in East Africa. He conducts private classes in portraiture and illustration and has participated in and held several exhibitions in Kampala. His work is part of collections in East Africa, Canada, the United States, the UK, and South Africa. Johnmary also sings with the Kampala Singers, Sauti ya Afrika, and other vocal groups. He has also acted with the Kampala Amateur Dramatic Society in several plays, musicals and other productions.
     
Oscar   Michael Oscar Kanyike (Drama Facilitator and Facilities and Purchasing Coordinator) holds a diploma in music, dance and drama from Makerere University. He has done several stage performances with Uganda's leading drama group The Ebonies, and has also performed with Moi University in Kenya. He also currently features in a teenage education radio drama, Rock Point 256, focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention. Oscar trains and adjudicates for local school drama performances, and is also a visual artist and videographer.
   
Teddy   Teddy Nantume (Music Facilitator and Counselor) is one of the top classically trained sopranos in Uganda. She is passionate about African traditional music - playing drums and stringed instruments. She also teaches voice and plays and teaches guitar. Teddy has an ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) diploma in performance from the Kampala Music School, and a degree in mass communication from Makerere University. Teddy also has a certificate in child, marriage and HIV counseling from Makerere.
   
Bukenya   Joseph Anthony Bukenya (Visual Arts Facilitator and Photographer) started his own company, KRISJO, to promote Ugandan photography, visual art, jewelry, and crafts. He studied photography at the Free Student Academy of Art in Ghent, Belgium. He has had several solo exhibitions in Uganda at Alliance Française and Afriart Gallery, as well as joint exhibitions at the Department of Fine Art, Makerere University, and Nommo Gallery in Kampala. He has also had experience working with street children using art as therapy.
   
Mark   Mark Owori (Circus Arts Facilitator) is the founder of the Voice of Hope Foundation, which was created in 2003 to take children and youth off the streets and teach them skills in many different art forms. He enjoys working with disadvantaged children living on the streets, in remand homes, rehabilitation centers, etc., teaching them circus arts, batik drawing, wood carving, and capoeira. Mark holds certificates in art and sculpture, wood carving, and social work from the COWA Vocational Institute in Kampala.
   
Patrick   Patrick Ssebagala (Circus Arts Facilitator) is In Movement’s youngest facilitator. Having lived on the streets at one point in his life, Patrick connected to several different organizations and individuals who taught him skills in acrobatics, gymnastics, juggling and capoeira. Patrick is now committed to sharing his skills with other youth like himself so that they may have more meaningful and prosperous lives.
     
Mary   Mary Frances Ibanda (Creative Writing Facilitator) is a teacher by training and a writer by nature. She studied literature and English language as her subjects of specialty, earning a diploma in education from The Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo in 1996, and a Bachelor of Education Degree from Makerere University, Kampala in 2003. Mary’s interest and ability as a writer were honed in school and then shaped in the employment sector while serving as a sub-editor at Recent Magazine in Kampala, and as a secondary school teacher.
     
Davis   Davis Sebulime (Breakdance and Hip-Hop Facilitator) earned a certificate in IT and Leadership from the Kibo Foundation in Kampala. He is also a member of Breakdance Project Uganda, where he uses breakdance and hip-hop to bring about positive social change in children and youth. He has participated in United States Agency for International Development (USAID) sponsored workshops throughout war affected districts in northern Uganda, using breakdance as a conflict resolution and peace building tool.
     
Tush   Allen Tush Naturinda (Drama Facilitator) holds a Masters Degree in Applied Drama from Witwatersrand University in South Africa, and a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Makerere University. She is experienced as facilitator for theatre for development, process drama and communication skills for performers. She has participated in several outreach programs in different parts of Uganda, including in internally displaced peoples (IDP) camps. Allen is very passionate about working with children and less privileged members of society.
     
Ife Piankhi   Ife Piankhi (Creative Writing Facilitator) has been an educator and trainer for 20 years. Her experience has seen her facilitating youth at festivals (Tribe of Doris, Ancestral Gathering) in schools and youth clubs pan London with organizations such as Learning through the Arts, Toynbee Hall and Insight Arts to name but a few. Ife is passionate about leadership, the environment and health. She is a graduate of the Interaction Leadership Program (British Council) and Eco Villages Training (Findhorn Foundation Scotland).
     
Bagonza Herman   Bagonza Herman (Music and Dance Facilitator) has been a music and dance trainer in schools throughout Uganda. He is the artistic director for a traditional performing troupe called Rhythm Africa that has done shows in different countries. He has also worked with the radio program Rock Point that focuses on AIDS prevention in the society, as an actor and a translator from English to the Ugandan local languages. Bagonza is a member of the Christ the King Choir and has traveled to the United States to perform in competitions with the choir.
   
Abramz   Abramz Tekya (Breakdance and Hip-Hop Guest Facilitator) has been a hip-hop artist, rap singer and breakdancer since 1992. He is the founder of the duet “Sylvester & Abramz”, a voice that speaks for the people using hip-hop as a tool for empowerment. He is a well-known artist, performing in Uganda and East Africa. He is one of the founders of Breakdance Project Uganda, established in February 2006. The project provides free breakdance classes to children and youth in Kampala, Mbale, and the war affected northern part of Uganda.

Lynn Murphy   Lynn Murphy is an expert in international education with extensive experience in Africa. She currently works for the Hewlett Foundation developing a new initiative to support quality education in Africa and South Asia. In Uganda and elsewhere, she led education and research projects and has worked with the United Nations and international NGOs. She holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University (USA) in International Comparative Education.
   
Ignacio Forcada   Ignacio Forcada Barona has a Ph.D. in International Law from the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM, Spain). He is currently a professor of Public International Law and International Relations at Toledo Law School. He has been a consultant for UNICEF, the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA), the Municipality of Toledo, NGO Gili EcoTrust, and other organizations. He has written on development aid, law of the sea, theoretical aspects of international law, and education.
     
Ilonka Brew   Ilonka Brew is a sociologist and has experience in business administration as well as working with elderly and disabled people. She was the manager of the orphans’ school, Banunule Primary School in Kampala, and she was responsible for fundraising, administration, and finance. This school aimed at providing orphans with holistic education and care.
   
Eric Mulholand   Eric Mulholland is an actor and arts educator and has been working with youth for over 20 years. He received a scholarship to study theatre at the University of LaVerne where he specialized in Creative Dramatics and Acting. Professionally, Eric has directed and acted in touring children’s theatre companies and has appeared in over 60 plays. Eric has taught drama in schools to youth of all ages and works internationally as a facilitator with Partnership for Youth Empowerment.
   
Charlie Murphy   Charlie Murphy is an educator and facilitator known for his groundbreaking work incorporating creativity into youth development and adult training. He co-founded Power of Hope, an innovative youth development organization in Washington State and British Columbia in 1996. In 2005 Charlie was elected to the Ashoka Fellowship, a global association of the world’s leading social entrepreneurs. In 2008 he launched Partnership for Youth Empowerment (PYE Global) to advance transformative youth work internationally.

Begona Begoña Caparrós (Founder and President) is an attorney with a degree from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, is certified as a Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst through the University of Utah and has dance and theatre studies. She has been teaching, performing and working as a movement consultant in Spain, San Francisco, California and Uganda for several years.
     
Eduardo Gimenez   Eduardo Gimenez (Vice President) has a degree in law from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. He has worked in humanitarian and development projects in the United Nations and the European Commission. He is a partner in the international consulting firm Bain & Company and a founder member of the non-profit Social Bid which is dedicated to charitable bids on the Internet.
     
Isabel Dutilh   Isabel Dutilh (Secretary) has a Law Degree from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, a Master of Law (University of Wales, Cardiff) and a Master Maritime Business (ICADE). She has extensive experience in practicing law and is a founder member of the law firm Dutilh Abogados.
     
  Vicente Benedito (Member) has a law degree from the University of Valencia and a Diploma in Agricultural Law and Registration Law, as well as a master’s in Foreign Trade. He has been Chairman of BBVA Brasil, S.A., Deputy General Manager directing the Insurance Area and Group’s prevision at a global level. In 2002 he joined Sacyr where he served as Director General in several of the Group’s areas. Currently he is Director General, Chairman’s Chief of Staff and Non-executive Secretary of the Board of Directors. Among other awards he holds the Commander of the order of Isabel the Catholic.
   
Juan Bolás   Juan Bolás (Member) is an attorney and former president of the General Notarial Council. He is also a founding member of “Aequitas”, the General Notarial Council Foundation, which helps people in need of special protection.
   
Bruno Entrecanales   Bruno Entrecanales (Member) is a business executive and social entrepreneur. For the last ten years, he has worked in the investment field, participating both as an investor and as an administrator in the private sector, including working with start-ups and bringing failing companies back to profitability.
     
  Gracia LaFuente (Member) has a bachelor’s degree in geography and history with a speciality in the history of the arts, and a master’s degree in museology from Universidad Complutense of Madrid. She has finished doctórate courses in education and art at Columbia University. She was the coordinator of the Teacher Information Centre for the MOMA Education Department (New York). She is a consultant that designs educational programs and gives trainings for professorships across the arts in universities and museums in England, the United States and Spain.
